(Bilingual) Safety Specialist

Ocala, FL
Pay Rate: $18–$20 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Position Type: Full-time | Contract

We are seeking a Safety Specialist on a contract basis to support and promote a strong culture of safety across manufacturing operations. This role works closely with Operations teams to ensure compliance, provide safety training, conduct audits, and assist with investigations and corrective actions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, confident communicating with employees at all levels, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Promote and enforce all company safety policies and procedures
Conduct routine safety training sessions, safety orientations, and toolbox talks
Assist with new hire paperwork and safety onboarding
Perform regular job and facility inspections to identify unsafe conditions or work practices
Document safety observations and report findings to administrative and management teams
Coordinate supplemental inspections when new equipment, substances, or processes are introduced
Assist supervisors and managers with project safety planning and hazard investigations
Verify completion of corrective actions and safety recommendations
Investigate workplace illnesses and injuries; gather information from employees and help prevent recurrence
Submit safety status reports and track initiatives through completion
Ensure proper fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and first aid supplies are available
Create and distribute safety newsletters and safety communications
Physically walk the plant floor and address safety compliance issues (PPE, procedures, etc.)
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety-related role
Manufacturing experience preferred
Associate degree in a technical field preferred
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards
Ability to evaluate complex information and make policy recommendations
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable speaking to large groups of employees
High proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office applications
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Willing and able to walk the production floor regularly and address safety issues directly with employees

Work Environment:

Manufacturing / plant environment
Requires frequent walking and standing
Hands-on role with a strong administrative component
