Instrumentation/Electrical Designer
Located in Sarnia, ON
Salary: $62,400 - $83,200/Year
We are currently assisting with recruitment for two Instrumentation/electrical designers for a local company within Lambton County. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on experience within the process industries, supporting engineering design, project execution, and construction activities.
You will work closely with experienced designers and engineers while gaining exposure to real-world applications in petrochemical, refining, and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in project proposal development, cost estimation, both for materials and engineering hours
- Assist in the production and review construction packages including electrical schematics, loop diagrams, instrument location drawings
- Prepare and revise instrument index, data sheets, loop diagrams, and P&IDs
- Assist in the design and layout of instrumentation systems including control panels, field instruments, and wiring diagrams
- Collaborate with senior designers and engineers to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
- Support procurement activities by preparing material take-offs and technical specifications
- Participate in site visits and field verifications as required
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to project deliverables
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Recent or upcoming graduate in an Instrumentation Technologist program or Engineering Degree (Instrument, Electrical). Internship or Co-op experience in a related field will be considered
- Experience in the process industry including Petrochemicals and Refining
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and SmartPlant Instrumentation (Intools), or similar design tools
- Effective communications skills to enhance productivity, support collaboration
- Commitment to safety and supporting both Paton and client safety cultures
- Strong attention to detail and takes ownership in own learning and professional development
- Exposure to industry codes and standards
- Candidate should be able to travel and work at customer sites as required
Wage: $62,400 - $83,200/Year
