Job Description: Kitchen Team Leader (Quick-Service / Cafeteria Kitchen)

Position Title: Kitchen Team Leader

Location: Ski resort located approximately 30 miles from Helena, MT
Job Type: Seasonal (Winter) — potential for extension / year-round opportunity

Position Summary

A local ski resort is hiring a Kitchen Team Leader to support daily operations in a fast-paced, quick-service cafeteria kitchen. This is a hands-on leadership role—the Team Leader works side-by-side with the kitchen crew, rotating between stations while ensuring efficiency, quality, and teamwork during high-volume service periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily kitchen operations during shifts by:
  • Setting the pace and ensuring smooth service flow
  • Supporting staff across all stations (grill/fryer, prep, register, order window, stocking)
  • Stepping in wherever needed during rushes
• Maintain food quality, consistency, and speed of service
• Assist with training and coaching new team members
• Enforce strong cleaning, sanitation, and food safety standards
• Communicate clearly with staff and coordinate workflow during busy periods
• Keep the kitchen organized, stocked, and prepared for peak service times

Qualifications

• Prior kitchen experience required (quick-service or high-volume preferred)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to stay calm and manage shifting priorities during rush periods
• Supportive coaching style and a positive team-focused attitude
• Dependable, punctual, and solution-oriented
• POS/register experience is a plus

Physical / Work Requirements

• Standing for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Fast-paced, high-volume work environment
• Comfort rotating between stations throughout the shift

Schedule / Availability

• Weekend availability required
• Holiday availability strongly preferred
• Shifts align with ski resort operating hours
