Job Title: Groundskeeper / Cemetery Maintenance Technician
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Shift: Day Shift

Schedule:

• Monday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• 30-minute unpaid lunch

Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining the grounds and facilities of a funeral home and cemetery to ensure a clean, safe, and respectful environment. Duties include groundskeeping, equipment operation, interment support, chapel setup, and general facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut grass, trim around trees, walkways, and memorial markers

• Maintain lawns, lay sod, and move or remove flowers as needed

• Clear debris and maintain drives and walkways, including snow removal (location dependent)

• Perform minor repairs to grave markers and cemetery features

• Install and maintain grave markers, bronze memorials, crypt faces, and monuments

• Prepare crypts for entombments

• Assist with openings and closings for interments, entombments, and inurnments

• Operate backhoe to dig graves while avoiding damage to surrounding property

• Safely operate and maintain equipment to prevent damage to cemetery grounds

• Clean, service, and properly store all equipment

• Perform general maintenance on facilities and vehicles, including minor repairs and painting

• Arrange chapel and set up tents, canopies, and chairs for services and graveside ceremonies

• Wash and clean funeral home vehicles as needed

• Assist with loading and unloading caskets and moving/installing vaults

• Follow all safety rules and comply with OSHA, federal, state, local, and corporate regulations

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• One year of relevant experience preferred

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as watering, cutting, weeding, and trimming

• Availability to work overtime and extended hours as needed

• Valid state-issued driver’s license
