2nd Shift CNC Machinist - Lathe 

$23.00 - $26.00 per hour, DOE

3:00 pm – 11:30 pm / Monday-Friday

 

A leading aerospace manufacturing company is seeking a skilled 2nd Shift Lathe CNC Machinist to join the team. In this role, you will operate 2, 3, 4, and/or 5-axis CNC machines as well as conventional lathes to produce complex aerospace parts. You’ll demonstrate advanced cross-training flexibility by setting up and running multiple machines with little or no assistance.  Lathe CNC Machinist Responsibilities:

• Fully operate and set up multiple CNC and conventional machines, including lathes
• Perform pre-operational inspections and study blueprints, manuals, and dispatch specs to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements
• Execute complex setups independently, including changing chucking jaws, tools, and offsets
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and hoists to move parts between machines and storage racks
• Conduct trial runs to verify machine settings and adjust as needed for accuracy and quality
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories
• Calculate and set machining parameters such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut, or program CNC controls accordingly
• Monitor machine operations for malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments
• Verify finished parts conform to specifications and maintain time records on BAMC
• Operate Gun Drill and other cutting tools for precision perforations

Lathe CNC Machinist Qualifications:

• Minimum 2+ years of CNC machining experience
• Experience with 2- and 5-axis machining preferred
• Experience setting up and running a variety of manual and CNC machines
• High school diploma or GED preferred; trade school or equivalent experience a plus
• Forklift and crane operator certification preferred but not required
• Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T) preferred
• Basic computer skills, basic shop math, and ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Knowledge of heat treat processes for machined parts
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
