Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable worker to join our construction and surfacing team, specializing in the troweling and screeding of concrete and/or rubber materials. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in surface finishing, leveling, and shaping of poured materials for various applications including flooring, sidewalks, playgrounds, and industrial surfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare work areas by cleaning, setting forms, and applying bonding agents as needed

• Pour, spread, and level concrete or rubber mixtures using screeds, trowels, and other finishing tools

• Ensure surfaces are smooth, properly graded, and meet project specifications

• Apply finishing techniques such as edging, floating, and texturing

•  Mix and handle materials according to safety and quality standards

•  Operate power tools and equipment such as power trowels, vibratory screeds, and mixers

• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition

• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times

• Collaborate with site supervisors and other trades to ensure timely project completion

Qualifications

• Proven experience in troweling and/or screeding concrete or rubber surfaces

• Familiarity with various finishing tools and techniques

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and surface specifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor or indoor environments

• Knowledge of safety procedures and hazard awareness

Preferred Skills

• Experience with rubber surfacing (e.g., poured-in-place playgrounds or sports surfaces)

• Certification in concrete finishing or construction safety (e.g., WHMIS, OSHA)

Work Conditions

• Outdoor construction sites

• Physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
