Machine Operator - Bridge Mill - VTL

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Bridge Mill / VTL Machine Operator to support precision manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for operating large-scale CNC equipment, setting up machines, inspecting finished components, and ensuring products meet quality and production standards.

The ideal candidate has experience with CNC machining, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with large components in a detailed manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation

• Set up and operate large CNC machining equipment.
• Prepare tooling, fixtures, and materials for production.
• Secure and align workpieces for accurate machining.
• Load and adjust programs, offsets, and tooling as needed.
• Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality.
• Perform tool changes and support machine troubleshooting.

Quality Inspection

• Inspect completed parts using precision measuring equipment.
• Verify components meet blueprint specifications and quality requirements.
• Perform in-process and final inspections.
• Interpret technical drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
• Identify and communicate quality concerns.

Maintenance & Safety

• Follow all safety procedures related to machinery, materials, and lifting operations.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and housekeeping.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Report equipment issues or production concerns.
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC machining or large-part manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and inspection methods.
• Experience using precision measuring tools.
• Strong understanding of CNC controls and machine operation.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with bridge mills, vertical turning lathes, or similar large-scale equipment.
• Knowledge of G-code, feeds, speeds, and CNC programming.
• Familiarity with GD&T and complex tolerances.
• Experience with overhead cranes, rigging, or material handling equipment.
• CNC setup or programming experience.
