Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to perform repairs, maintenance, and diagnostics on a wide range of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will be skilled in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, as well as performing routine maintenance to ensure optimal vehicle and equipment performance. This position requires strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Diagnose and Repair Diesel Engines:
Use diagnostic tools and manual methods to identify and troubleshoot issues with diesel engines, transmissions, fuel systems, and other related components.
Perform repairs, including replacing faulty parts, overhauling engines, and repairing or adjusting fuel injection and exhaust systems.
Perform Preventive Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, air filter replacements, brake inspections, tire checks, and fluid system maintenance to ensure vehicle and equipment reliability.
Test and Calibrate Engine Systems:
Use testing equipment (e.g., fuel pressure gauges, compression testers) to verify engine performance and calibration. Ensure systems meet manufacturer specifications.
Maintain Equipment and Tools:
Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and safe to use. Keep the work area clean and organized in compliance with safety standards.
Ensure Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety guidelines and environmental regulations when handling tools, chemicals, and hazardous materials. Maintain compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Document and Report Work:
Keep detailed records of inspections, repairs, parts replacements, and services performed. Provide clear communication with supervisors and clients regarding vehicle status and necessary repairs.
Collaborate with Team Members:
Work with fellow mechanics, supervisors, and other staff to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in diesel technology preferred.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in diesel engines or equivalent is highly desirable.
Proven experience (typically 2+ years) working as a diesel mechanic or in a related field.
In-depth knowledge of diesel engine systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and heavy machinery.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (50+ lbs) and work in various physical positions (kneeling, bending, lifting).
