SUMMARY:
In this role, the Quality Control Assistant will be responsible for performing daily quality control activities including ATP Swabbing, environmental sampling, approval of raw and finished good materials. QC assistant will assist Quality Team for maintaining food safety, quality and regulatory programs.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform quality inspections on incoming materials.
2. Examine/maintain retention samples.
3. Perform sensory evaluations.
4. Enforce quality standards on raw materials and finished goods.
5. Assist with maintaining records for HACCP, SQF, and FSMA.
6. Conduct in-line QC checks and problem analysis.
7. Perform ATP swabs and environmental swabs.
8. Ensure QC lab is clean, organized, and equipment is calibrated.
9. Ensure products are received, manufactured and packaged in a safe, quality manner to meet quality and food safety specifications.
10. Conduct food safety and quality training.
11. Assist with quality, regulatory, customer and third party audits.
12. Review supplier documentation such as Letters of Guarantee, Letters of Conformance, Certificate of Analysis, third party audits among others to ensure in compliance and current.
13. Be part of team to perform quality and facility audits.
14. Ensures all products are manufactured and packaged in a safe, quality manner.
15. Work closely with the sanitation department to ensure the effectiveness of the documented, implemented sanitation program.
16. Comply and participate with company’s GMP’s and Food Safety Programs
17. Act in a support role to the Quality Manager.
18. Miscellaneous projects as assigned.
19. Report food safety and quality concerns to Quality Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a professional manufacturing environment. In this role the Quality Control Assistant is expected to spend considerable amount of time in the production facility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to remain long periods of time standing. Some lifting is required to carry product samples and relevant documentation. Must be able to spend periods of time in front of a computer terminal.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
24. Bachelor’s degree in food-science or related field
25. 2 years practical experience in food safety or quality assurance
26. HACCP Certified
27. Knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 110 and FSMA regulations
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
28. 2 years of college education preferably in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry
29. HACCP certification
30. Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) knowledge
