**Job Title: Construction Welder**

**Overview:**
As a Construction Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding metal components used in various construction projects. Your expertise in welding techniques and ability to interpret blueprints and specifications will contribute to the successful completion of structural steelwork, piping systems, and other metal fabrications. You will work collaboratively with project teams to ensure that welding activities are carried out safely, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Welding Operations:** Perform welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal components and structures, ensuring adherence to welding procedures and quality standards.
  
2. **Blueprint Interpretation:** Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements, dimensions, and specifications for fabrication and assembly.

3. **Material Preparation:** Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and beveling edges, removing rust, scale, and contaminants to ensure proper weld penetration and quality.

4. **Equipment Setup:** Set up welding equipment, including welding machines, gas cylinders, and torches, and select appropriate welding techniques, materials, and consumables based on project requirements.

5. **Weld Inspection:** Inspect welded joints and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications, using visual inspection, measuring tools, and non-destructive testing methods.

6. **Safety Compliance:** Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), implementing safe work practices, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

7. **Material Handling:** Handle and position metal components, parts, and assemblies using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up for welding operations.

8. **Welding Documentation:** Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including weld logs, inspection reports, material certifications, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).

9. **Collaboration:** Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to coordinate welding activities, resolve technical issues, and ensure project milestones are met.

10. **Continuous Improvement:** Stay current with industry trends, advancements in welding technology, and best practices to enhance welding skills and improve efficiency and productivity.

**Qualifications:**

- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding preferred.
- Proven experience as a welder in the construction industry, with proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
- Strong knowledge of welding equipment, tools, and materials, including welding machines, electrodes, filler metals, and shielding gases.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to perform welds on various metal types and thicknesses, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Proficiency in welding positions, such as flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
- Knowledge of welding codes and standards, such as AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality craftsmanship in welding operations.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
