Are you an experienced Manual Machinist who takes pride in precision workmanship? A Springfield-area manufacturer is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to operate traditional machine shop equipment and produce, repair, and modify critical industrial components in a stable, full-time environment.

- Monday-Friday
- 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Pay
- $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
- Based on experience and skill level
What You'll Do
- Operate manual lathes, vertical mills, surface grinders, drill presses, and arbor presses
- Perform turning, milling, boring, drilling, threading, and grinding operations
- Machine and repair shafts, housings, bearings, hubs, end bells, and specialty components
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work instructions
- Set up machines and verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments
- Cut keyways, machine bearing fits, and perform custom machining work
- Complete basic fabrication, fitting, and occasional welding tasks
- Work with engineering and production teams to meet customer specifications
- Maintain quality standards, workplace safety, and an organized work area
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating manual lathes and milling machines required
- Experience in a machine shop, motor repair facility, or job-shop environment preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong knowledge of machining practices and tolerances
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges
- Strong math skills including fractions, decimals, measurements, and geometry
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- High School Diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
- Stand for extended periods throughout the workday
- Frequent use of hands and measuring instruments
- Work safely around machining equipment and materials
