Express Employment, a reputable staffing agency, is currently seeking talented and passionate Cooks and Dietary Aides to join our team for an exciting opportunity at a skilled nursing facility in Uniontown, PA.

Responsibilities of the cook:

 

 

·       Prepare and cook a variety of appetizing and nutritious meals for residents based on prescribed dietary guidelines, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and food safety.

·       Plan menus in collaboration with the dietary team, taking into consideration residents' specific dietary restrictions and preferences.

·       Assist with inventory management, ensuring adequate supply of ingredients and food items.

·       Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and labeling of food items.

·       Adhere to sanitation and safety procedures, including safe food handling and storage practices.

·       Collaborate with other kitchen staff and dietary personnel to ensure smooth meal service operations.

·       Accommodate special dietary needs or requests, such as diabetic, low sodium, or gluten-free meals.

·       Maintain knowledge of current culinary trends and techniques, incorporating new ideas into menu planning when appropriate.

 

Responsibilities for the Dietary Aides:

 

·       Assist with meal preparation, portioning, and plating of food items under the guidance of the Cooks.

·       Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring proper portion sizes and presentation.

·       Provide excellent customer service, addressing any resident concerns or requests promptly and with empathy.

·       Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, ensuring tables are cleared and sanitized between meal services.

·       Assist with dishwashing and kitchen cleaning duties as needed.

·       Follow all safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handling and disposal of waste.

·       Collaborate effectively with the dietary team and other staff members to ensure a seamless dining experience for residents.

·       Participate in training programs and educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in food service and resident care.

 

Qualifications:

 

·       Proven experience as a Cook or Chef in a professional kitchen, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.

·       Knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets, with the ability to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences.

·       Strong culinary skills, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu planning.

·       Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices.

·       Excellent organizational and time management skills.

·       Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

·       Prior experience in a dietary or food service role, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.

·       Basic knowledge of food preparation and safety practices.

·       Strong customer service skills with a compassionate and caring attitude.

·       Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.

·       Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy objects when necessary.
