Production Operator - Evaluation-to-Hire Position

Location: Portland, OR 97203

Salary: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour (depending on shift differential)

Shifts Available: Swing Shift and Day Shift

Express Employment Professionals is currently seeking Production Operators for an evaluation-to-hire position in Portland, Oregon. This is a great opportunity to join a growing company in the manufacturing industry. Upon successful completion of the evaluation period, there is potential for permanent employment with our client.

Position Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and conditioning containers for chemical storage
• Mixing and dispensing chemicals
• Packaging finished products for shipment
• Operating material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks and overhead cranes
• Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Working in clean room environments when necessary
• Regularly lifting and/or moving materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
• Following detailed instructions presented in oral and written form
• Performing basic mathematical calculations
• Occasionally using a computer for various tasks

Qualifications:

• Good dexterity and a full range of motion
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, occasionally up to 70 pounds
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions presented in oral or written form
• Basic proficiency in English, both speaking and understanding
• Basic math and writing skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Previous production and/or warehouse experience preferred, but not required
• Experience with hazardous materials is a plus, but not required
• Familiarity with hazmat labeling and chemical segregation within a warehouse environment is a plus
• Willingness to occasionally work overtime

Salary and Career Progression:

• Base pay starts at $20.00 per hour
• Shift differential pay is available for specific shifts
• Candidates progress through three levels of training: Operator I, Operator II, and Operator III
• Pay increases at the completion of each level
• Upon achieving Operator III certification (usually at 12 to 18 months from date of hire), the base hourly pay is $23.00 per hour, exclusive of additional shift differential pay
