GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The new pollinating bumblebee program with this client is in the works. We are looking for a person to breed and maintain colonies of bumblebees under confinement (laboratory production). Implementation of this program will require a fundamental knowledge of social insects, such as bumblebees and bees, and their biology and life cycles, with the aim of breeding high quality hives to pollinate crops in greenhouses and open fields.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Setup and follow up the bumblebee rearing production and facilities that will comply with the production needs
- Monitors the KPI’s and Reporting of the evolution of the project and production on a weekly basis
- Fill, prepare, and send weekly production report, environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, photoperiod
- Fill, prepare, and send weekly report of Inventory of raw materials, bumblebee hives in process and for sales quantities
- Data collection and analysis
- Follow production protocols and safety procedures
- Annual collection of queens when necessary
- Feed the hives under the established feeding regimen
- Manipulate and interact with bumblebees, workers, males and queens
- Keep records including traceability of the hives, their growth and evolution during their development
- Interact with employees, leads, managers, vendors, and inside and outside the bumblebee department
- Keep work areas clean and organized be able to set up and maintain the 5’S Program
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in Biology, Agronomy, or related field such as biotechnology, plant science, biology, ecology, or entomology, or a combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of work experience with insects, social insects, and/or mites preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of bees, bumblebees, and their life cycles
- Knowledge of beneficial insects for pest control and pollination
- Familiar with workplace safety and sanitation programs and procedures
- Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams, Outlook
- Assertive verbal and written communication at all levels of the company
- Skilled in basic mathematics
- Skilled in data analysis
- Ability to think critically and ask relevant questions
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes, conflicting schedules, and shifting deadlines
- Ability to adjust to new procedures with or without notice

Work is primarily performed in an indoor/outdoor environment
Work may occasionally be performed in an indoor warehouse or shipping/receiving environment
May be required to work outside of normal workdays and hours to meet operational deadlines
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
