Our client is hiring a full-time permanent Internal Accountant. This important position within this Tri-Cities based organization executes the daily, monthly, and yearly accounting practices of the firm. The person manages incoming and outgoing payments including payments to vendors, payroll, accounts receivable, government payments, and others.

Job Duties:

· Make journal entries as required to ensure accounting records are 100% accurate.

· Month end work, including reconciling bank accounts, entering report information into accounting software, preparing month reporting, and reconcile works in progress, accounts receivable, etc.

· Year-end work includes reconciling fixed assets, amortization, shareholder accounts and bank loans and preparing year end reporting including financial statements.

· Accounts Receivable preparation of weekly and monthly reporting, preparation of statements for clients, and conducting collection calls.

· Accounts Payable preparation of payments (online, automatic, cheques) to vendors in accordance with expectations.

· Monitor balances of bank loans and make journal entries as required. ·

· Prepare payroll and make direct deposits for payments to employees. Prepare and submit payroll remittances to the government.

· Monitor and maintain accurate vacation accounts for all employees. ·

· Register and maintain benefit records for all employees and partners with benefits providers. Monitor employee benefit and RRSP matching payments for accuracy. Prepare and submit cost plus claims as needed.

· Prepare and submit annual T4s, T4As, T5s and WCB reports. ·

· Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) as required. ·

· Prepare and submit monthly GST reports ·

· Prepare quarterly EHT installments and annual return. ·

· Reconcile credit card charges and prepare allocation of expenses to appropriate cost accounts. ·

· Prepare applications for commercial property, cyber and professional liability insurance. ·

· Research and prepare applications for rebates and subsidies as they become available. ·

· Maintain the finance filing system, ensuring confidentiality. ·

· Prepare ad-hoc reports as requested by leadership team. ·

· Complete any one-off transactions as directed by the Director of Finance. ·

· Monitor all financial functions and escalate any issue to the Director of Finance in a timely manner

Skills and Qualifications:

· 3-5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting, including payroll, financial statements, and month- and year-end reporting.

· Accounting experience in a public practice firm is highly desired

· Proficiency in SAGE accounting software as well as strong proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

· Expert level user of RBC Express and exposure to CaseWare and iFirm preferred.

· Strong problem-solving and communication skills
