POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Mechanical Design Engineer works as part of a multidiscipline project team to develop concepts, perform engineering analysis, build and test prototypes, generate detailed CAD designs, create engineering drawings, partner with suppliers, and support testing and validation for customers.
  • To be credible in this role, you really need to have a degree in engineering and experience in packaging design and/or mechanical design.
  • The ability to work independently without a lot of daily oversight is essential.
  • Strong communication skills are a must.
  • This position offers the right person project variety, interesting work, and the opportunity to work with some outstanding engineers solving complex problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, especially in packaging design or mechanical design engineering.
  • BS in Engineering 
  • Experience with 3D solid modeling for design conceptualization and realization. Solidworks strongly preferred, or similar software.
  • Experience with FEA analysis, especially thermal flow simulation, is a big plus. If you have thermal analysis experience, it will be a big differentiator.
  • Demonstrated ability to derive conclusions from analysis and make practical recommendations.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Capability to interface with multidisciplinary groups, including senior leadership.
  • High energy and self-motivated team player with strong desire to learn.
  • Customer-oriented and willing to work with high-level problem solvers daily.
  • Possess strong leadership and “ownership” characteristics with commitment to achieve results on time.
  • Potential to develop into a technical leader within the company.
  • Strong professional experience and skill using MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND FUNCTIONS: 

  • Take responsibility for mechanical/mechatronic design aspects of any given program.
  • Work in Solidworks software to create detailed CAD designs and drawings.
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams (Manufacturing, Electrical, Software), as well as outside suppliers to ensure all product requirements are met.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design is manufacturable (DFM)
  • Interface with customers.
  • Reports directly to VP of Engineering as well as their assigned Engineering Program Manager to be assigned tasks, set priorities and report progress.

SCHEDULE:

8:00 am to 5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday

This position will work out of Auburn Hills, MI or Shelby Township, MI.
