Job Summary: The Shop and Warehouse Foreman will take the leading role in day to day operations of the shop and warehouse. This position includes the design, construction, and maintenance of new props, scenic elements, costumes, and other custom event assets. In addition to supporting operations, they will also play a role in shipping and receiving for licensed events and some retail and other amenity products.

 

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintains, safeguards, and monitors condition of all inventory of all props, costumes, scenic elements, as well as other REP assets
  • Builds and repairs props for internal and external shows and completes construction of other required associated assets
  • Builds and repairs larger set pieces, maintains event décor items, and maintains event catering equipment.
  • Performs basic maintenance on costume inventory and works with other costume staff to support their needs.
  • Oversee the inventory and ensure that all items are in good repair, clean, functioning, and ready to be sent out as events require.
  • Maintenance of existing event asset inventory as well as construction and creation of new pieces.
  • Pick and assemble shipments for smaller events in addition to handling case inventories and truck load plans for larger events.
  • Assists in determining needed materials, supplies, and other assets as needed for productions.
  • Supervise the cleaning, maintenance, inventory, shipping, and storage of props, costumes, catering equipment and other assets.
  • Responsible for tracking assets on loan to other organizations or on the road with REP productions.
  • Plan and oversee the day to day operation of the warehouse and shop.
  • Handles direct receiving, warehousing, distribution, and shipping of materials, assets, and supplies.
  • Oversees and serves as a point of communication for the needs of the warehouse building.
  • Performs maintenance and improvement projects on the building as time allows and works with other entities or contractors for other building related projects with the approval of REI or AHR.
  • Maintain a safe working environment complying with federal, state, and local requirements and advising management on needs.
  • Maintains the physical condition and oversees the warehouse and shop facility within the company’s policies and vision.
  • Control inventory counts by conducting physical counts and reconciling with electronic data storage records.
  • Produces regular reports detailing the condition of physical assets and stock as well status of assets availability and usage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience interpreting technical drawings.
  • Prior work as a theatrical props master, craftsman, or other artistic construction related fields preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCad preferred.
  • Practical knowledge and skills with tools and equipment found in typical shops including power saws, drills, hand tools, etc.
  • Experience with inventory control, reporting skills, analyzing information, strong decision making, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience as a warehouse or inventory supervisor with ability to create and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently with self-motivation and attention to details as well as excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize and solve practical problems and resolve issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams that can include seasonal employees and interns

Work Environment:

  • Majority of time spent in a shop and warehouse setting.
  • Some domestic travel.
  • Varied schedule requiring evenings, weekends and overtime.
  • Ability to operate a forklift proficiently or ability to be trained as an operator.
  • Ability to lift 50-100 pounds and work in an environment of prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and climbing of steps.
