What You Get to Do!

The Accountant supports all of the organization’s daily financial matters. This individual deals with all financial transactions and billing coordination to ensure all projects remain on budget. They work closely with all departments through completion of each project and concurrently handles the fundamental aspects of the company’s financial recordkeeping, including recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank and credit card statements, payroll and completing annual tax forms.

Accounts Payable:            

  • Reporting of independent contractors to the State (form DE542)
  • Ensuring all subcontractors provided necessary insurance certificates for each subcontract issued and have executed contracts on file prior to payment issuance
  • Requesting and updating vendor insurances when expired Providing and collecting lien releases
  • Quarterly vendor statement reconciliation and any inquiry and follow up needed

Accounts Receivable:

  • Setting up new client information and providing W-9’s when required
  • Ensuring any new job in organization’s current construction management software program is complete and contains all necessary fiscal information
  • Ensuring accurate project accounting records including contracts, change orders, subcontracts, insurances, pre-liens, permits, warranties, and billings
  • Maintaining cost tracking for time and material billings and submit contract invoices Collection of all accounts receivable
  • Providing accurate statements to the client as needed

Payroll Management:

  • Ensuring records such as change of salary, benefits, child support, wage garnishments, and calculations are current
  • Process both physical paychecks and direct deposits

Other Fiscal Areas:

  • Providing advice on various accounts, analysis, and reconciliations
  • Providing assistance with Job Cost Reporting
  • Ensuring city license renewal, gross receipts, and tax due calculations are up to date and completed
  • Ensuring organization’s and subcontractor’s COI’s are current and filed properly

Final decision-making powers

  • Generate any and all fiscal reports as needed
  • Make bank deposits on behalf of organization in consultation with the President
  • Direct and delegate areas of accountability and responsibility to appropriate administrative support as applicable
  • Submit all necessary forms and information to any and all government agencies on behalf of organization
  • Negotiate with subcontractors for discounted payment schedules
  • Communicate with insurance company to ensure proper coverage as needed

 

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of general accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including, but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project
  • Working knowledge of SAGE Construction software
  • Ability to create and work with Adobe PDF’s
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to understand the same
  • Excellent listening and understanding skills
  • To be proactive, well organized, and have a strong ability to prioritize
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills, both internally and externally
  • Must be self-motivated, punctual, and professional in both presentation, appearance, and speech
  • Ability to provide solution-based responses to issues
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
