A South Charleston area industrial company is needing a Staff Accountant.
The Staff Accountant position will report to the Corporate Controller. The candidate will have substantial interaction with the Plant Controller as well as members of the engineering department. The key responsibilities for this role are:
Fixed assets. Assume total oversight of fixed asset accounting. This will involve meeting with engineering and plant leadership to understand spending on capital projects and timing of assets to be placed in service. Further, the candidate will lead the physical verification of fixed assets to ensure that our records are properly stated.
Exhibit the skills to provide insight to the “numbers behind the numbers,” and the associated actions required to drive value. This will involve explaining fluctuations in SG&A and balance sheet accounts and help support reporting to both lender and parent.
Assist with monthly close process. This includes recording journal entries to amortize prepaid assets, accrue , analyses, and account reconciliations.
Support department by preparing documents and gather information for audits.
Responsible for completing state tax filings as required.

An ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen and the desire to make career advancements within finance or accounting. The candidate should have a team-minded attitude and help identify new approaches to improve efficiencies in the department and the company. The candidate must be detail-oriented and have a “roll-up-the-sleeves” mentality.
Education & Experience
Undergraduate degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related area.
Have 1-4 of accounting experience with a preference for work with audit firm.
Intermediate experience with Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas) and other Microsoft Office tools (including Word and PowerPoint).
Experience working with ERP required, SAP preferred
