CAD Drafting Manager

We have partnered with a leading PNW home builder who is looking to add an experienced CAD drafter to manage their CAD and drafting department.

What You Get to Do!

The Draftsman Manager will assist in the oversight of the CAD Department employees and projects company wide. This position will be responsible for the preparation, coordination and execution of floorplan designs, land planning and permit management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage department personnel and overall state of the department
  • Oversee and participate in the new creation and modification of plan design development
  • Manage permit production team regarding scheduling, prioritizing and facilitating plan submittals
  • Advise jurisdictions regarding development of code creation, modification and overall code issues
  • Oversee structural designs, plan sets, and all CAD tasks related to the Land Development Team
  • Assist with managing priorities in relation to permit submittal and permit issues
  • Assists internal departments and outside contractors with creation and modification of new community designs
  • Works with internal departments to facilitate appraisal packages
  • Reviews and approves community construction drawings
  • Work with Sales team to determine plans submittals and timelines upcoming plats
  • Manage and assist with drawings for Architectural Review Committee submittals
  • Assist with approval plans and permits for Production team
  • Oversee supporting documents such as sales and marketing layouts to ensure alignment with company parameters and area regulations
  • Work with structural design details and plan sets to create and enforce company design practices
  • Oversee creation and recording of documents with the area jurisdiction
  • Review and approve engineering invoices and permit payments
  • Work with Purchasing team to make decisions regarding material, lumber and hardware specifics.
  • Work with Director of Operations to align plans for new communities for internal release and introduction into production
  • Propose plans identifying floorplans to lots and work with internal teams to finalize layout.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Technical Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or related field, or equivalent work experience required
  • 4+ years’ experience using AutoCAD in an architectural, land development or structural engineering environment
  • Expert REVIT experience
  • 2+ years of managerial experience
  • General construction knowledge to understand construction process, terminology and codes
  • Good understanding and ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
