Job Summary: A local insurance agency is seeking a qualified, licensed Insurance Agent to join their staff.    

Location: Stevensville, MI

Position Type: Full-Time, Evaluation Hire

Pay/Salary: Base Salary per year + Commission

Schedule: 1st Shift, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Responsibilities/Duties of Insurance Agent: 

  • Provide excellent customer service to policyholders
  • Identify clients’ insurance needs, gaps in coverage, and loss exposures, both insurable and uninsurable
  • Obtain accurate information from clients and prospects, including completing applications, supplemental forms, onsite surveys, and other related documentation
  • Utilize company-specific computer programs and software
  • Greet customers and potential prospects in the office and out in the community with a professional and friendly manner
  • Maintain a courteous and effective relationship with clients, co-workers, carriers, and other business contacts
  • Order and process customer change requests in a timely manner
  • Assist clients with reporting claims
  • Generate and pursue new client opportunities, including scheduling appointments and presentation of proposals to prospects
  • Documentation of all client-related activity, including personal visits, emails, and phone calls
  • On-site visits to customers to assess risks and gaps in coverage
  • Make arrangements with clients to ensure premium payment is on a timely basis and be responsible for collections
  • Proactively review customer policies and follow through on commitments
  • Actively keep customers aware of new products available, as well as cross-selling of available products and services
  • Minimize the potential for error and omissions claims
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications for Insurance Agent:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Licensed by the State of Michigan as an Insurance Producer in Property & Casualty and Life and Health. 
  • Prior insurance experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • High-level computer skills preferred - Microsoft Office, email, editing/opening PDF’s & various Windows and internet-based application
  • Basic accounting skills a plus
  • Knowledge of social media marketing helpful
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information
  • Self-starter, multi-tasker with an enthusiastic attitude 
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and remain cool under pressure
  • Excellent customer service skills
