Quality Assurance Engineer

On behalf of my client in Woodstock we are recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer for a newly created position to support the company while they transition another employee to retirement. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to join a growing, family-oriented company. The successful candidates would ideally have a minimum 7 years of experience in quality departments with a minimum of 5 years in recent automotive manufacturing environments.

Salary: 65 to 70K Base plus Overtime paid after 44 hours per week

Scheduled Hours of Work: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Additional Compensation: $1.55 paid for every hour worked into a deferred profit-sharing plan towards your future retirement. Based on 40 hours weekly that’s $3,224 annual contributions!

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Key customer and supplier contact to resolve quality issues by implementing CA’s
  • Manage corrective action program (timely thorough closures)
  • Preparation of PPAP Documentation including Control Plans, FMEA, GR&R, Cap studies, Layouts
  • Advanced quality and PPAP Work including Submission of IMDS (internationally recognized database for automotive industry related to recycling materials)
  • Continuous improvement or LEAN experience related to scrap reduction
  • Manage measurement issues including Gauge design, CMM Programming, and run at rates
  • Participate in process improvement projects with engineering department
  • Visual inspection of production processes and product, assist with problem solving and recommending solutions while evaluating results
  • Perform or assist in internal quality audits alongside Quality Manager
  • Document maintenance i.e. drawing, standards and specs

Must Have Requirements / Assets

  • Clear criminal background check
  • Certified Quality Engineer through the ASQ is a strong asset
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering Discipline or Technical College Diploma
  • Minimum 7 Years Experience in Quality Assurance with 5 Years spent in Automotive ideally
  • Experience in injection stamping or casting process would be highly considered
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprints, CMM layouts, and measurement system analysis
  • Good understanding of AIAG PPAP requirements including
  • Previous experience speaking directly to automotive customers in a recent position
  • Confidence with online quality systems and statistical applications
  • Experience of Quality standards including maintaining IATF16949 certification
