Position Summary 

Tooling Assembly Technician

This role is responsible for the preparation, assembly, inspection, movement, and storage of tooling used in press and ring mill operations. The Tooling Assembly Technician ensures all tooling is correctly assembled, accurate, and safely handled in support of production requirements.

Key Responsibilities 

Tooling Assembly Technician

• Present all required tooling to the press and ring mill
• Assemble tooling using standard assembly practices and verify accuracy
• Assemble all tooling needed for profile rolling, including mandrels and main roll assemblies, outside of the mill
• Operate forklift, gantry crane, and overhead crane safely to remove tools from storage racks and deliver heavy tooling within the plant and outdoor storage areas
• Hook up crane safely when moving heavy tools to and from the forging department
• Ensure proper care of tools after each job, including marking and returning tools to designated storage locations
• Inspect tooling for wear or damage
• Perform basic repairs using hand tools when possible and recommend replacement when necessary
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tooling storage and work area
• Maintain accurate inventory logs for tooling and equipment

Required Skills & Qualifications 

Tooling Assembly Technician

• Strong language and communication skills
• Solid math and measurement skills with the ability to measure to 1/16 inch tolerance
• Experience working with hand tools and mechanical assemblies
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and cranes (or ability to be trained)
• Ability to handle heavy tools and work in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
