General Summary


Under general supervision, tasks are rotated between bagging the food products on different production lines and packing the bagged food product in boxes. Additional duties associated with packing the tortillas may be assigned.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Bags products out of the counter/stacker checking for correct food product size, color, toast marks, quality, and count per stack while keeping up with the production line pace. Confirms that the bag being used corresponds to the product being bagged.
  • Periodically weighs the bags to assure they are within the specified weight range. Reports any out-of- specification product to the department Lead.
  • Places the bagged food product on the line sealing and coding conveyor correctly to assure proper sealing and at the production line pace. Confirms that the bags are properly sealed and that the date code is the correct one by comparing the printed date code to the one posted on the green placards installed on the case sealers. Follows established metal detector procedures. Reports any variances to the Dept. Lead.
  • Packs the specified number of bags per box assuring that they are neatly placed in the box and that the product meets assigned specifications. Seals the packed boxes utilizing the case sealer confirming that the box is of good quality and that the box flaps are completely closed and taped. Confirms that the box code is correct and that it is legible. Sets up the box former and sealer when needed and replaces the tape rolls as needed on the case sealer.
  • Assists in changing the catch cup trays on product changeovers and in setting the specified count in the counter/stacker memory. Also assists in changing box labels and assures that the label is well adhered to the box and legible with none of the printed material cut off.


Job Specifications


1. Ability to work standing for ten hours.
2. Good manual dexterity to be able to pack at required speeds
3. Ability to read and write.
4. Good attention to detail is preferred
5. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish both oral and written are preferred.


Working Conditions

  • Busy and noisy production area.
  • The environment may be wet or dry and temperatures may range from 25°F to 110°F.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds is required.
  • Production demands may require overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling

Schedules- Day Shift- must be available all days of the week-
