Job Title: Semi-Trailer Repair Apprentice

 

Job Summary: This apprentice-level position is designed for individuals eager to learn and develop foundational skills in semi-trailer repair. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of semi-trailer maintenance and repair, including air systems, electrical systems, braking systems, suspensions, bodywork, paint preparation, and basic fabrication welding. This role is ideal for someone with a basic mechanical aptitude and a desire to build a career in the semi-trailer repair industry. Key Responsibilities: As an apprentice, the associate will:

  1. Air Systems:
    • Learn the fundamentals of semi-trailer air system components and their functions.
    • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air systems.
  2. Electrical Systems:
    • Gain a basic understanding of electrical circuits and systems used in semi-trailers.
    • Support the diagnosis and troubleshooting of electrical issues.
    • Aid in the installation of electrical components.
  3. Braking Systems:
    • Study the principles of braking systems and their components in semi-trailers.
    • Participate in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of braking systems.
  4. Suspensions:
    • Learn about different types of suspension systems used in semi-trailers and their functions.
    • Assist in the maintenance and repair of suspension components.
  5. Body Work:
    • Acquire basic skills in semi-trailer body repair techniques.
    • Help with the replacement, repair, and alignment of body parts.
  6. Paint Preparation:
    • Learn the steps involved in preparing semi-trailers for painting.
    • Assist in sanding, masking, and priming surfaces.
  7. Basic Fabrication Welding:
    • Understand the fundamentals of welding and metal fabrication.
    • Support welding tasks related to semi-trailer repair and learn to use welding equipment safely.

Additional Duties:

  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
    • Report any issues or malfunctions promptly.
  • Learning and Development:
    • Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities.
    • Seek guidance and feedback from experienced technicians.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work effectively as part of a team.
    • Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude and experience in shop environments.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Basic welding skills are preferred.
  • Mechanical certifications are a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • High energy and enthusiasm for collaborative teamwork.
  • Action-oriented and detail-oriented.
  • Must have mechanic''s tools; candidate preferred to provide some hand tools.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and fumes.
  • It may require lifting and carrying heavy objects.

  • Monday to Friday: 07:30 AM - 04:00 PM
