Job Description for Grinding Operator 

Express Employment Professionals LAX is looking for a grinding operator to work for a local manufacturing company of electronic components in the city of Gardena, Ca. You will operate machinery, including polishing and grinding equipment, to grind any metal workpieces to their prescribed specifications to ensure high-quality products. Finish products by hand using hand tools to ensure the surfaces are filed or finished accordingly.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate machinery, including polishing and grinding equipment, to grind any metal workpieces to their prescribed specifications to ensure high-quality products.
• Finish products by hand using hand tools to ensure the surfaces are filed or finished accordingly.
• Keep all equipment running by inspecting and performing basic maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning, and scheduling repairs when needed.
• Provide quality control by inspecting workpieces as they come out of the equipment and removing any defective pieces
• Perform basic repairs, including replacing parts when they are worn down or broken, within the scope of expected knowledge and expertise.
• Assists with cleaning work area.
• Performs all duties assigned by supervisor and senior operators/machinists

Minimum Requirements: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work effectively in a team environment.
• Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
• Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment; must be able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

Safety: 

Must have the physical ability to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

• Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as clothing, gloves, goggles, safety masks or other garments or equipment to protect the employee’s body from injury or infection as required.
• Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions of equipment.
• Ensure compliance with employee health and wellbeing programs.
• Notifies supervisor and manager and Human Resources of any job related injuries or illnesses.
• Inspect materials, manufacturing area and safety equipment to find and correct potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
• Ensure that they understand the safe use of chemicals, are aware of the location of MSDS binder and is available when needed.
• Ensure tools being used are in good condition and safe to use.
