Job Title: Grocery Retail Cake Decorator

 

Job Description:

- Creates custom decorated cakes, cupcakes, and other bakery items for customers

- Utilizes cake decorating techniques such as piping, fondant work, airbrushing, and hand-painting to decorate cakes to customer specifications

- Prepares and mixes cake batters and fillings according to recipes and company standards

- Cuts, levels, and assembles cake layers to create even, evenly-stacked cakes

- Applies frostings, ganaches, buttercreams, and other cake finishes smoothly and professionally

- Designs and executes intricate cake decorations, designs, and themes to customer orders

- Communicates with customers to understand their vision and provide cake decorating recommendations

- Maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary work area according to health department regulations

- Restocks cake decorating supplies and informs management when inventory is running low

- May assist with other bakery production tasks as needed

- Ensures all finished cakes and pastries meet company quality standards before display

 

Qualifications:

- 1-2 years of experience in cake decorating, baking, or a related field

- Knowledge of cake decorating techniques, tools, and materials

- Creativity and an eye for design to create unique, visually-appealing cakes

- Strong customer service and communication skills

- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under time pressure
