Job Summary:

 

The Saw Operator is responsible for the loading, unloading, and movement of the metal bars and pipes to the proper machines and departments as needed.

 

Summary of essential job functions:

As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Saw Operator position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization''s requirements.

• Pull starting stock material for all machines according to work orders and process it according to the work order.
• Operator band saws and abrasive saws to cut material down to the desired length.
• Maintained proper paperwork for order processing.
• Process bar code tags for the material.
• Debur all cut material coming from the saw.
• Ensure all material is properly marked with alloy, spec, heat, and size before releasing material to shipping.
• Manage inventory through cycle count, and exception report inventory counts.
• Keep a clean and safe work environment.
• Abide with safety program and training.

 

Skills & experience:

• 5000 Ton Overhead Crane Experience Required
• Sit-Down Forklift Experience Required
• Band Saws Experience is a plus but not required
• Shipping and Receiving Experience is a plus
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic math skills
• Strong work ethic; self-motivated
• Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving skills, and time-management skills.
• Ability to effectively multi-task and work independently on assigned tasks.
