Express Employment Garland has partnered with a company in Garland, TX to actively recruit a Shop Hand to join their team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Handling: Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing metal materials, ensuring proper inventory management and storage conditions.

• Equipment Operation: Operate basic shop equipment, such as saws, grinders, and drills, under the supervision of skilled operators.

• Assistance in Fabrication: Support welders and fabricators by preparing materials, setting up workstations, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

• Quality Control: Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, reporting any defects or discrepancies to supervisors.

• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Maintenance Support: Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of shop equipment and tools to ensure proper functioning and longevity.

• Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and departments to meet production schedules and deadlines.

• Miscellaneous Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Supervisor or Production Manager, which may include administrative tasks related to inventory tracking.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in the metal industry or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with metalworking tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects 50 pounds or more and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Basic math skills and the ability to read technical drawings or blueprints is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and processes.
