Position Overview
Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Estimator to join the team of one of our Stuart, FL clients. In this critical role, you will oversee all estimating activities, ensuring the delivery of accurate and competitive project bids for both residential and commercial projects. You will be responsible for managing the bidding process, producing precise and reliable cost estimates, and contributing to the overall financial success of our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating process for commercial and residential projects.
- Prepare accurate and competitive project bids for paver and pool construction projects.
- Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop comprehensive estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for estimates.
- Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure compliance with project specifications and budgetary constraints.
- Negotiate favorable terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain and update estimating databases to reflect current material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Present and explain cost estimates to senior management and clients when required.
- Ensure that all estimates comply with company standards and meet client expectations.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to improve the estimating process.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on paver and construction projects.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards, including steel, rebar, concrete, and gunite.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Blue Beam or similar).
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- High attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and precision.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in hardscaping estimation is highly desirable.
