Shop Mechanic – Baton Rouge

Full Time

$20 / HR+

Mon - Fri 7:30 am-4 pm

 

Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for a shop mechanic with, gas engine, diesel engine, tool, or electric motor experience for a local client in East Baton Rouge.  This is an excellent opportunity for a long-term position with a company looking to hire talented individuals to work within their team.  This position has potential for future advancement within the company after proven performance in this role. Must be mechanically inclined, work well with others, and can work independently.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Shop Mechanic:  

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks.
• collaborate closely with other team members to uphold safety standards, minimize downtime, and optimize equipment performance. 
• Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment, including but not limited to gas engines, diesel engines, electric motors, and tools.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical issues promptly to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
• Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and safety protocols.
• Utilize a range of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical manuals to perform maintenance and repair tasks effectively.
• Ability to learn how to work on equipment that candidates may be unfamiliar with. It WILL NOT be an auto-only mechanic position. Candidates will work on saws, drills, coring drills, concrete tools, diesel engines, and small gas auto engines.
• Must have the tools needed to perform the tasks needed.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Any kind of mechanic experience is required.
• Small engine auto mechanic (preferred)
• Diesel engine (plus)
• Electric motor (plus)
• MUST be able to pass a DISA hair follicle test.
• MUST have a valid Drivers License.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to obtain TWIC, and OSHA cards if needed.
