We are  seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cook.  This role requires experience in batch cooking, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to serving the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, and cook large quantities of balanced, nutritious meals for shelter residents.
• Menu Planning: Collaborate with shelter management to develop weekly menus based on available resources and dietary needs.
• Food Safety: Follow food safety regulations and sanitation practices to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Inventory Management: Manage food inventory, track supplies, and rotate stock to reduce waste.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing work areas, and ensuring equipment is well-maintained.
• Resident Interaction: Assist with serving meals and ensure respectful and compassionate interaction with residents.
• Adaptability: Adjust meal plans and operations based on ingredient availability and shelter needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in food preparation or cooking, particularly in batch cooking or large-scale operations.
• Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification preferred).
• Organizational Skills: Effective time management and multitasking abilities in a busy kitchen setting.
• Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with shelter staff and volunteers.
• Compassion and Patience: Empathy and a genuine desire to help shelter residents.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as needed.
