Position- Crane/Forklift Operator

 

Shift- (12 Hour Shifts) 

1st shift: 7:00am - 7:30pm

3rd Shift:7:00pm - 7:30am 

 

Pay - $19-21

 

Express Employment Processionals – St. Paul, MN is assisting a local company that has grown into one of the world’s largest processors and marketers of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal.

 

Job Summary:

 

This position is responsible for operating cranes and forklifts to move, load, and unload recycled metal materials, as well as performing various general labor tasks within the facility. This role requires versatility and attention to safety protocols. The ideal candidate should have experience operating cranes and forklifts in an industrial setting, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Crane Operation:

• Operate overhead cranes, magnet cranes, and other lifting equipment to lift, move, and position recycled metal materials safely within the facility.
• Conduct daily inspections of cranes to ensure safe operation and report any mechanical issues or malfunctions promptly.
• Follow safety protocols and load limits while operating cranes to ensure the safe handling of materials.

Forklift Operation:

• Operate forklifts to transport materials within the yard, load and unload trucks, and organize materials in designated areas.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures while operating forklifts, including wearing the required personal protective equipment (PPE).

General Labor Duties:

• Assist with sorting, categorizing, and preparing metal materials for processing or shipment.
• Perform manual tasks such as cleaning work areas, removing debris, and ensuring the facility is kept organized and free of hazards.
• Support other team members in various tasks as needed, including maintenance, inventory checks, and general facility upkeep.
• Participate in regular safety meetings and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a crane operator and forklift operator in an industrial, recycling, or manufacturing environment.
• Valid forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Knowledge of metal recycling processes and materials handling is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
• Strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions accurately.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) as required.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to varying weather, noise, dust, and other environmental factors.
• Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, and operating machinery.
• Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.

Work Environment:

• The work environment is an industrial yard with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
• The position may require working shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on production demands.
