Express is looking for Crew Members to assist with weatherization projects for a non-profit.  This position involves occasional travel and candidates need to be able to work out of the area for one to three weeks at a time at least a couple of times per year.  This is a safety-sensitive, physical position that will let you work in a variety of locations frequently.  This is an ongoing passion project!  You will never be bored!  Note:  you need to have your phone set up to receive voice mail!

Key Tasks

  • Learn how to operate Blower Door, Duct Blaster and Monoxer II diagnostic testing equipment efficiently and effectively
  • Use carpentry and plumbing hand tools, use and maintain carpentry power tools
  • Install attic insulation and attic vents
  • Test combustion appliances for elevated carbon monoxide levels
  • Install carbon monoxide detectors
  • Complete Blower Door diagnostic testing
  • Install weather-stripping on windows and doors and caulking
  • Seal all feasible sources of infiltration
  • Remove, repair, and replace windows and doors
  • Install low-flow showerheads or shower extension arms
  • Install hot water pipe jackets or hot water heater blankets
  • Install energy efficient light bulbs
  • Install furnace filters and filter alarms
  • Install setback thermostats for forced air-heating systems
  • Install floor and/or wall insulation
  • Perform minor home repair, such as door/window replacement and installation of exhaust fans and/or range hoods

Hard Skills

  • One-year experience or equivalent in home repair, remodeling, weatherization, or general construction
  • Insulation methods
  • Weatherization installation techniques and applications
  • Attic ventilation techniques and materials applications
  • Duct-wrap installation techniques and field applications
  • Basic carpentry, window glazing and basic plumbing
  • Blower Door and Carbon Monoxide testing protocols

Compensation

$20.00 per hour.  After an evaluation period with Express, you will be eligible for offers health benefits, vacation and 13 paid holidays a year!
