Summary:

This position will be responsible for painting, loading and structural steel components.  

 

Responsibilities:

• Apply paint or other finishes to steel, using brushes, spray guns or rollers as required
• positioning loads.
• Analyzing painting specifications, work orders and material safety data sheets to plan painting and loading needs.
• Prepare all material surfaces to be painted, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
• Chip and grind off excess weld, slag or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers, grinders, or arc cutting equipment.
• Mark and tag material with proper job number, piece mark and other identifying marks as required.
• Check the conditions of trailers to ensure cleanliness, safety and compliance with loading procedures.
• Operate overhead cranes, loaders and other equipment to transport materials to and from the paint bay and transportation vehicles and to store retrieve materials within the shop and yard.
• Effectively use time to meet and exceed production expectations.
• Must be able to wear a respirator for extended period of time.
• Must wear required PPE at all times.
• Follow all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications: 

• 1 to 2 years of painting experience in industrial preferred but not required.
• Must be able to set up and climb ladders and stairs to work on flat bed trailers.
• Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 70 pounds.
• Must be physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of time.
• Must be willing to overtime and weekends as necessary.
• Must be punctual and have a strong work ethic.
