Laser Operator

Under general supervision, the laser operator located in Griffin, Georgia is responsible for operating and setting up The CNC laser machine. As the laser operator you are also responsible for the cutting of metal parts and ensure they are cut to the right specification. Also set up and adjust the CNC machine lens to meet the correct specifications. Make sure all routine checks are done on the CNC laser machine before and after operation.

  • Maintain and operate assigned Laser.
  • Safely operate assigned Laser cutting table using the proper techniques and methods.
  • Properly and efficiently set up the Laser cutting table for each scheduled job.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and follow procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintain the proper housekeeping around the assigned Laser cutting table. Empty trash, etc. from your assigned table at the end of every shift.
  • Ensures that all completed parts and associated Travelers are taken to the proper Shipping Location for final review.
  • Visually inspect for quality throughout the process
  • Ensure all parts processed meet customer requirements and quality specifications, report all issues to Shop supervisor and/or quality personnel.
  • Select proper cutting programs
  • Understanding of materials, steel, stainless, aluminum
  • Make proper set-ups for cutting operations
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Diploma/ GED
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and work with whole numbers and fractions.
    • Must be able to read and use calipers, scale, ruler, tape measure, and similar.
    • Must be able to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude.
    • Must have worked with and understand Laser operating machines.
    • Ability to understand work orders, follow procedures and maintain attention to details.
    • Ability to work individually, and in a team environment.
    • Basic proficiency in using computers.
    • Math skills, including the ability to interpret measurements using handheld and mechanical measuring devices and power tools.

    Preferred Skills:

    • At least 2 years’ fabrication experience
    • Ability to read, interpret and understand Work Orders.
