Saw Operator  – 2nd shift!

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry Level Saw Operator at our metal shop. As a Saw Operator, you will be responsible for operating various sawing equipment to cut metal materials according to specifications. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with metal, has a keen eye for precision, and enjoys working in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Location: Olathe, KS

Pay: $720-$800/week ($18 per hour) PAID WEEKLY!

Schedule:

  • 4:00pm-12:00am
  • Monday-Friday
  • 40 hours/week, every week.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Set up and operate sawing equipment, such as band saws, circular saws, or abrasive saws, following established safety protocols and operating procedures.
  2. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, or specifications to determine the dimensions and tolerances required for the metal materials.
  3. Measure, mark, and scribe cutting lines onto the metal surfaces, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  4. Position and secure metal materials onto the sawing equipment, using clamps, vises, or other appropriate fixtures.
  5. Adjust the sawing equipment settings, such as blade speed, feed rate, and cutting angle, based on the material type and thickness.
  6. Start the sawing equipment and guide the metal material through the blade, monitoring the cutting process to ensure proper dimensions and quality.
  7. Inspect the cut pieces for any defects, such as burrs or rough edges, and perform necessary deburring or grinding operations to achieve desired finish.
  8. Monitor and maintain an adequate supply of cutting fluids or lubricants, applying them as necessary to ensure optimal cutting performance and equipment longevity.
  9. Perform routine maintenance tasks on the sawing equipment, such as blade changes, cleaning, and adjustments, to ensure smooth operation and prevent downtime.
  10. Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  11. Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors, communicating any issues or concerns related to the cutting process or equipment performance.
  12. Continuously strive to improve efficiency and productivity, suggesting process enhancements or equipment modifications when appropriate.
  13. Participate in training programs or workshops to expand knowledge of metal cutting techniques, equipment operation, and safety practices.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in a manufacturing or metalworking environment is preferred but not required.
  3. Basic understanding of metal materials, measurements, and fabrication processes.
  4. Familiarity with the operation of sawing equipment, such as band saws, circular saws, or abrasive saws, is a plus.
  5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, or specifications.
  6. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  7. Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  8. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  9. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
  10. Strong commitment to workplace safety and adhering to safety protocols.
  11. Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  12. Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy metal materials or tools when necessary.
