Billing Specialist

This is advanced work in the accounts receivable unit of the accounting department. Work may involve initiating and coordinating specialized accounts receivable functions; and/or serving in a technical support role. Work may also include compiling data from billing and activity logs, checking data for completeness and accuracy, recording, entering, and retrieving information in an automated database and preparing invoices for payers.

Salary: $17.75

Job Type: Full Time, Temp to Hire

 

What we look for in a Billing Specialist: 

• Working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, systems, and equipment.
• Knowledge and application of business math computations; and grammar, composition and spelling.
• Working knowledge of computer information systems and software and skilled in keyboarding.
• Working knowledge and application of healthcare billing coding systems, (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare, insurance)
• Skilled in keyboarding and use of a personal computer.
• Skilled in preparing spreadsheets and reports.
• Skilled in establishing and maintaining billing records; use coding and filing systems; and in retrieving and compiling data from automated database and related billing documents.
• Effective oral and written communication skills that include reading, writing and speaking the English language.
• Ability to make and apply routine decisions in assigned area of responsibility, in accordance with policies and procedures and standards established by regulatory agencies.
• Ability to plan, organize, assign, supervise, evaluate, instruct and train subordinate staff performing structured administrative functions.
• Ability to develop and implement procedures from general instructions.
• Ability to work with independence and to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
• Ability to proofread materials for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to enter information into an automated database with a high degree of accuracy and speed
