Our client is a Rockville-based CPA firm that is entering their "second tax season". They are seeking a Junior Accountant with Public Accounting and Tax experience.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 2 to 5 years of accounting experience looking for exposure to public accounting and tax, with an opportunity for growth.

The ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail and have extensive experience with QuickBooks and Excel. Other tax software exposure is beneficial.

This position is temp-to-hire; after tax season, they will consider permantantly hiring this person if it is a good fit.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm in office (no remote)

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Manage and prepare client data for tax filings during the busy extended tax season
• Do light bookkeeping for some clients
• Prepare Excel workbooks including reconciliations and other financial data
• Prepare tax forms and other filings under supervision of CPA
• Support tax accountants and tax filings as needed
• Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and answering inquiries
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (QuickBooks)

Skills/Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of Bookkeeping experience
• Accounting degree
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
• Experience in a professional services firm
• Understanding of basic tax forms
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks
