Laborer

Located in Mars, PA

Salary: $16.00-$18.00/hr.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Laborer to join our team at our industrial steel fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the shop, including handling materials, operating machinery, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and supporting skilled workers with various tasks. This is an entry-level position with opportunities for growth and advancement within the company.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Handling: Load and unload raw materials, steel components, and finished products. Transport materials to designated areas within the shop using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Machine Operation: Assist in operating basic machinery and tools used in the steel fabrication process, such as saws, drills, grinders, and welding machines. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Support Skilled Workers: Provide assistance to welders, fabricators, and other skilled workers with various tasks, including measuring, cutting, and assembling steel components.
• Quality Control: Inspect materials and finished products for defects or discrepancies. Report any quality issues to the Shop Supervisor.
• Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ensure all tools and equipment are stored properly and shop floors are free from debris and hazards.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Additional Duties: Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Shop Supervisor or management team.

 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
• Forklift certification is a plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
