Express Pros is seeking a Medical Receptionist/Biller for an Orthopedic practice in McKinney, TX. This is a direct hire opportunity.

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM

Pay: $15-22/hr Depending on Experience

 

Job Summary: The Orthopedic Receptionist/Billing Specialist is essential in managing the administrative functions of the orthopedic facility. This role involves guiding patients through the intake and checkout processes, ensuring the seamless handling of medical records, identification, and insurance information. This allows the clinical staff to focus on patient care. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effortlessly with the clinical team are crucial for success in this position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome all patients and visitors with courtesy, professionalism, and friendliness.
  • Manage incoming faxes via the EMR system and appropriately assign cases to team members.
  • Schedule appointments and referrals in accordance with office guidelines.
  • Answer and direct phone calls as needed.
  • Obtain detailed insurance verifications and authorizations when required.
  • Register patients in the practice management system or reconcile patient information on electronic check-in devices.
  • Collect and scan identification and insurance cards into the EMR system.
  • Handle patient check-out processes, including pricing services, collecting payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Collect co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and address previous balances.
  • Confirm next-day appointments and inform patients of necessary documentation, including details for time-of-service payments.
  • Adhere to policies regarding no-shows and late appointments.
  • Correct rejected claims from the claims scrubber, clearinghouse, or payer.
  • File secondary and tertiary claims electronically or via paper as needed.
  • Post receipts from insurance companies and patients, and edit any electronic remittance advice.
  • Review Accounts Receivable (A/R), payment mismatch, zero pay, and denial reports to identify and address trending or specific issues.
  • Contact patients with outstanding balances or inactive insurance.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of insurance authorization and billing requirements.
  • Ability to handle complex billing issues and resolve them effectively.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and medical coding.
  • Understanding of orthopedic clinic procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • High level of professionalism and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work as a team player, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
