Counter Salesman:

Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Salary: $16.00 Hour

Must have some knowledge of plumbing and/or electrical.

Handles all sales functions in a professional manner for counter

customers by providing prompt and efficient service to achieve maximum sales and

customer satisfaction. This person reports to the Store Manager or Counter Sales Supervisor.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Exhibit a positive, friendly & helpful attitude with all customers

2. Pull orders for customers and assist customers in loading their purchases

3. Make suggestions for additional order items to every order

4. Push specials, slow movers and obsolete materials

5. Assist fellow counter salesman when they have customers and you do not

6. Expedite telephone calls; be courteous, kind and helpful

7. Know the computer and its capabilities in assisting the sale (scanning the branches

for materials, making transfers, expedite orders, creating pick tickets, etc.)

8. Know all of our buyers and the products they buy

9. Be familiar with procedures in nonstock purchases

10. Inform supervisor or buyers of competitive feedback

11. Inform supervisor with any discrepancies found in inventory

12. Assist with inventory counts when needed

13. Select appropriate merchandise from stock

14. Properly prepare merchandise for customer transportation

15. Maintain counter area displays of merchandise in an orderly and attractive manner

16. Assist warehouse when they are shorthanded and counter activity permits

17. Learn the location of all products in the store

18. Learn all you can about the products we sell; study product literature

19. Keep counter area clean, neat, safe and orderly

20. Obey all company policies and promote safety

21. Solve minor customer complaints; report serious complaints to your supervisor

22. Any additional tasks as assigned by the Counter Sales Supervisor or Store Manager.
