12-hr Night Shift - 2,2,3 Rotation - 7 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

General Summary: Express is recruiting for a Baldwin, WI company in search of an Production Operator. This is a production operator position, which entails utilizing established documentation, tools, quality and production concepts in accordance with established safety procedures.  To process and package finished and WIP product, perform secondary operations functions, and other advanced functions, as required.

Personnel Supervised: The Team Leads will provide guidance, assistance, and training to the team members who operate the equipment and package the product in their assigned areas.  The Team Leads will participate in discipline issues needing immediate attention with the Lead Technician.

Knowledge / Skills:

·         The skill to facilitate, lead, coordinate and direct the activities of multiple people 

·         A high level of knowledge in the general functionality of our processes and equipment

·         The skill to transfer knowledge and train team members

·         The skill to provide feedback and coaching to team members 

·         The knowledge to collect, analyze, and report safety, quality and overall efficiency issues 

 

Duties           

·         Print work orders for the rework or inspection of product (the VSM’s support to the Leads is the reduction of these activities)

·         Participate in discipline issues (e.g. poor attendance, sending suspect individuals for drug testing, …)

·         Identify problems (i.e. Gemba Walks) and use our problem solving methodologies to improve our problems

·         Make decisions to minimize downtime (i.e. a job isn’t running well, move on to the next job)

·         Assign work to the operators (including breaks) that will include job rotations and is based on the operator’s skills

·         Document attendance (i.e. document on attendance matrix)

·         Provide opportunities, through personnel coverage, for operators to attend LAL training

·         Manage orientation, onboarding, and continuous training of operators as defined by Value Stream Manager

·         Perform their ‘rounds’

·         Perform visual inspections on manual machines or with new operators (i.e. operators not qualified to perform their visual inspections on their own)

·         Work with other shifts for operator coverage as it relates to vacations or training

·         Communicates to all production support across shifts (daily management board, shift changeover meetings, etc.)

·         Recommended to be First Responder trained and certified

·         Partner with the Lead Tech to run the shift

·         Perform other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous plastics manufacturing experience is desired.
• Basic communication and mathematical skills.
• Ability to understand a variety of instructions whether oral, written diagrams or visual samples to process acceptable finished goods and WIP product.
• Employee is required to sit, stand, walk, bend and occasionally lift or move up to fifty pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• This position requires frequent fast paced and repetitive motion.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  
• Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, and Hearing.
