Fire Alarm System Designer responsible for the design and engineering of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA codes and project specifications.

 

Position Overview:

 

Design systems in accordance with NFPA and project specifications. Participate in the review process with other design team members and drafters, as requested by management.

Using software such as AutoCad, develop floor plans, riser diagrams, schematics, system power calculations, and control panel layouts.
Review all designs before submitting for approval to ensure they meet quality standard and code requirements.
Follow all company policies and procedures during daily work activities.
Work independently or with others as a team to complete all tasks and related design functions. Routinely work with sales and project managers to ensure the most efficient design while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Assist and provide feedback to the sales and project managers for organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
Assist management in developing and implementing a quality service program to increase efficiencies and proficiencies for the design and engineering department.

 

Qualifications:
Two to five years of experience designing commercial fire detection systems.
Minimum NICET II-certified in Fire Alarm and/or Special Hazards.
Strong working knowledge of fire protection codes and operations.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCad and other software programs required to perform job.
Proficient understanding of current NFPA 72 inspection, testing, and troubleshooting requirements.
Ability to read and interpret fire alarm project drawings and specifications.
