Express Employment Professionals is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our client’s established team in East Hants. Our client is one of Eastern Canada’s leading natural resource manufacturers and has been voted one of the 50 Best-Managed Companies in Canada.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the maintenance team and will be responsible for regular maintenance and service to mobile equipment.

This position would suit a Red Seal equipment mechanic with a strong background in an industrial or production environment with exceptional mechanical equipment troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

• Regular fleet maintenance of mobile equipment.
• Maintain records of service and repairs to equipment.
• Manage an inventory of parts/materials required for service and maintenance to ensure uptime availability.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Will be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Red seal certificate required
• Post-secondary training as a Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
• Previous experience in a production environment preferred.
• Able to work under pressure to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Diesel experience an asset.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and machining and precision measurement skills.
• Ability to work without supervision and to get along well with others.
• Good organizational skills.
• Familiarity with computers is an asset.
• Customer focused and able to prioritize and multi-task with a sense of urgency when required.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required to accommodate equipment down times.
• A strong knowledge and practice of safe work habits and procedures at all times.
• A team player with great interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with customers and the team.
