Manual Machinist

Located in Kelso, WA

Salary: $24-$30

Express is on the hunt for a Manual Machinist at a well-established company in Longview/Kelso area. 

 

Hours are 7:00am- 3:30pm Monday thru Friday. 

 

Pay $25-$30 DOE

  

Essential Functions:

The Machinist accurately produces metal parts and tools using a variety of machines and methods. The Machinist is a precision instrument maker who fabricates and modifies parts. They apply knowledge of mechanics, shop
mathematics, metal properties, layouts, and machining procedures, and rely on proven skills and experience.

Make parts to specifications using a manual lathe, milling machine, band saw, shaper, and grinder.

• Measure, examine, and test completed units to find any defects and ensure conformance
to specifications using precision instruments.
• Set up, adjust, and operate specialized and advanced machine tools.
• Align and secure machine holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine the
sequence of methods and operations necessary to fabricate products.
• Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts.
• Observe operating machines/equipment to diagnose malfunctions and make adjustments
or repairs.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment. Dismantle machines/equipment.
• Set controls to regulate machining, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit
computerized machine control media.
• Fit and assemble parts to make or repair tool machines.
• Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, and cutting equipment

 

Work Environment:

• Exposure to moderate levels of noise, heat, & other factors from production areas
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
• Repetitive hand movement and standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling

 

Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude is a must and ability to read blue prints
• Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
