Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced CNC Setup Technician and Trainer to join our team. This role involves setting up CNC machines for production runs, ensuring optimal machine performance, and training other employees on CNC setup and operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of CNC machinery, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for mentoring and developing the skills of fellow team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. CNC Machine Setup:

    • Set up and prepare CNC machines for production runs, including loading and setting up tools, fixtures, and materials.
    • Program and adjust machine settings to ensure precision and accuracy in the manufacturing process.
    • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Training and Development:

    • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing employees on CNC setup and operations.
    • Provide hands-on training and support to employees, ensuring they understand and can perform CNC setup procedures.
    • Assess and monitor the progress of trainees, providing feedback and additional training as needed.
  3. Quality Control:

    • Inspect and verify the quality of parts produced during setup to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
    • Identify and resolve any issues related to machine setup or part quality promptly.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate

documentation of machine setups, adjustments, and maintenance activities.

  • Create and update training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for CNC setup and operation.
  • Report on training progress, machine performance, and any issues encountered during production.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with production, engineering, and quality control teams to ensure smooth workflow and address any technical challenges.
    • Communicate effectively with team members to share knowledge, best practices, and updates on training programs and machine performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in CNC machine setup and operation, with at least 1-2 years in a training or supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files.
    • Strong understanding of CNC programming, G-code, and machine controls.
    • Familiarity with various CNC machine types, including mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines.
    • Knowledge of machine tool maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Patient and effective trainer with the ability to adapt training methods to different learning styles.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment as required.
    • Standing for extended periods and working in a manufacturing environment.
