We are seeking a 1st shift Welding Shop Supervisor to join the team of our client, a Welding & Manufacturing company near Waunakee, WI

 

JOB PURPOSE & REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Welding Shop Supervisor, who directly reports to the Shop Manager, will oversee a team of welders. Will provide direction, support, guidance, and training for their team. Will work to ensure projects meet quality standards, and time commitments per customer requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Project Management- Manage a team of Fabricator/Welders by providing guidance, training, and support. Assign tasks and work schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Quality Control-Oversee all your team's operations. Adherence to industry standards and client specifications.  Help create quality control measures and inspections.
  • Plan and coordinate Shop projects, resources, and timeline management.
  • Safety and Compliance- Implement standards and compliance with health and safety regulations. Assist with implementing safety processes, regular safety training, and proper use of protective equipment.
  • Process Improvement-Assist in assessing welding processes and procedures  Look for improving techniques that help with efficiency, effectiveness, and best practices.
  • Assist ISO manager in moving towards ISO 9001 certification for the Shop department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Education and Experience- Welder Certifications and a minimum of 2 years experience supervising in a job shop atmosphere. A degree in welding, Tig and Mig, is a plus. Ability to demonstrate team management/leadership skills.
  • Language Skills- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Reasoning Ability- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.  Comfortable in making decisions based on company protocol and processes.
  • Skills/Abilities-Strong knowledge of Welding techniques, materials, and equipment for Aluminum, Stainless Steel, and Mild Steel. . Experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and time management. Background and knowledge of various welding training techniques. Willingness to share training experience and knowledge.   Knowledge of Health, Safety, and environmental regulations in a Welding/Machine shop setting.  Experience in OSHA regulations and responsibilities beneficial.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach above shoulders, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to sit for extended periods, talk or hear, and use office equipment. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The Welding Supervisor's role involves working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, with outdoor work being less than 15% of your daily activity.
  • The noise level in the Welding shop environment is usually loud. Hearing protection is required while working in the shop and machine departments.
  • The employee is required to wear safety glasses with side shields and ear protection while they are in the shop and machine departments. Steel-toed work boots/shoes are required any time you are in the shop/machine departments.

Pay Range:

$28-34/ hour, based on experience

 

Schedule:

Tue-Fri from 6:00 am-4:30 pm

Possibility of some flexibility as to whether it will be Tue-Fri or Mon-Thu.

Some Overtime on occasion.
