Express Employment is searching for a temporary medical coder for a local company. This is a full time, temporary, 1.5 month position.

Pay Rate: $25.39/hour

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and interprets medical information on the EHR form and selects the most accurate and descriptive ICD-10/CPT, HCPCS code including final diagnosis problem with additions and treatment notes; outpatient procedures; cause and place of injury; ordered laboratory tests; and other data input for the clinics.
  • Enters data into Electronic Health Record (EHR) and associated Health Information Management (HIM) applications and files in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Audits medical records to ensure for proper documentation and coding elements.    
  • Scans or uploads PHI forms into EHR for provider review, notes, or service packages.
  • Interacts with physicians and other providers regarding billing and documentation policies, procedures, and regulations; obtains clarification of conflicting, ambiguous, or non-specific documentation; sends deficiency notifications to providers for review.
  • Research inquiries from providers and clients about fees, reimbursements, and denials
  • Ensures the confidentiality, security, and safety of client records and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assists in maintaining the integral components of the EHR, including managing the Superbill and the Picklists.
  • Stays current with coding guidelines through research and continuing education.
  • Assists with the creation and maintenance of note templates, note titles, and data reports for internal auditing purposes.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of new technologies and principles attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences to maintain certifications.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding and billing, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and HIM applications.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and coding.
  • Ability to audit medical records for proper documentation and coding.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare providers and address coding inquiries.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and staying current with coding guidelines.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 30 pounds if necessary.
