Position summary

The Family Office Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, and analysis for the family office. This role requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working closely with the family members and other key stakeholders.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Consolidate financial data from various entities within the family's portfolio.
    • Present financial reports to family members and other stakeholders as required.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Develop annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with senior management and family members.
    • Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted and forecasted figures.
    • Analyze variances and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making on investment opportunities, asset allocation, and portfolio performance.
    • Provide insights into financial trends, risks, and opportunities to optimize the family's financial position.
    • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate potential investments and strategic initiatives.
  • Cash Management and Treasury:
    • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds for operational needs and investment opportunities.
    • Manage banking relationships and optimize cash balances.
    • Implement cash management strategies to maximize returns while minimizing risks.
  • Tax Compliance and Planning:
    • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Develop tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while maximizing financial efficiency.
    • Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the family's financial affairs.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
    • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Implement improvements to internal processes and controls as needed.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CFA designation preferred.
    • Proven experience (5 years) in a similar role within a family office, wealth management firm, or related industry.
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
    • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with family members, advisors, and external stakeholders.
    • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
